Default Honda transmission acting up?

I own an 06 civic ex coupe auto transmission with 60,000 miles and while at a red light their was a slight jolt engine light came on my drive light began blinking and third gear began sticking, the sticking went away but while driving on the highway check engine light remained on and the car would only shift through the first three gears but would not shift to fourth driving at around 70 rpms remained high and the lower gears would have to get to 5000 rpm in order to shift. Please help.

This may sound crazy but try this: go to a Honda dealer and buy a case of Honda transmission fluid. Drain and refill the fluid (about 2.5 quarts). Drive the car on the highway to get the transmission hot. Drain and refill again and drive the car..repeat until you have gone through all the fluid. Honda transmission fluid has detergent addititves in it. It sounds like something is sticking in your transmission and the fluid changes may clean it up. I was a Honda tech years ago and tried this with a 50% success rate. it is worth a try before spending big $$ for a transmission. Best of luck.
