YES, there are platty engines with alot potensial, depending on what you want, gas saver or performance? if you looking for performance a B18b or B20 would fit just fine but some special motor mounts might be needed i have never done an swap on that model 96. but if you want extra horses to compete with the big guys. a K24 engine block with a K20 cylinder head would do amazing job, ofcourse u will need ECU ,WIRE HARDNESSS ECT.

B20 with B18 HEAD IS A very good cheap conversion as well.
