Default Could the idle air control valve be the problem to the excessive waist of gas on my 1995 honda...

...civic? when I turn my car on (mostly in mornings and at time when it sits for a while) it cranks but i give it gas n starts up but have to press gas for a couple for minutes or else it turns off or just wants to at times but its smells like gas from the exhaust and also uses more gas then usual...

i think the cause of my problem is the idle air control valve but want to know if the gas problem is part of it before i get to changing it.

No - the Idle Air Control valve is exactly like opening the throttle a bit. Something is wrong with the way your engine operates and a professional could save you a lot of frustration and expense.
