Default 1997 civic d16y5 is shot. whats a good price to pay for a complete swap?

Professional mechanic wants to charge 4500. I give him the keys. He does the complete swap to a b16a jdm obd2. I pick it up.

Am I paying to much? I live in arizona.

The engine is a JDM b16a not the american version (no numbers). I've looked on line and the engine/tranny and axles etc is about 2900.00 (complete swap). So am i being charged too much in labor?

For a b16a2, yes.You can find the complete swap for 2000-2500 and labor should be 800-1,200. But it sounds like they marked your prices way up. Don't believe me on prices check hmotorsonline.

EDIT: Yes, you are being overcharged in labor.By about 500 I would have to say if labor rates are between 50-75 bucks an hour.
