Default Questions about 98 Accord?

Hey. I have a 98 accord and was wondering why my vtec does not kick in? I do now feel no difference when i rev up high. Would the Check Engine Light turn on if the Vtec Solenoid does not turn on? If oil pressure switch does not work would that cause the Check Engine light to turn on? I heard that It usually only turns on when a sensor does not work. Is it the same for switches?

Yes if you're vtec was not operating it would set a code and turn the cel on,, perhaps your mistaken? Normally the only time I've seen them not work is when the car is low on oil and the cel will be on with a vetc code stored,, never replaced a vtec solenoid in 17 years at dealership,

You are not supposed to feel vtec on that car, it is an economy system. If something was not working correctly the check engine light would come on. Higher performance cars like the Prelude have a vtec system that you can feel.
