Default After how many miles do Honda transmissions go out?

A mechanic told me that, all Honda transmissions (no matter the model) go out (die) after a certain amount of miles. I can't remember that number. Does anyone on here know?

That isn't true. Your tranny will last you over 300,000 miles depending on how much abuse it has taken, how often did you change the oil, if your car is manual, do you grind gears often? etc. There are many different conditions.

Your mechanic friend is COMPLETELY incorrect,, Honda had some trans problem but only on certain models,, and there's definitely not a specific amount of miles before one would fail,, that's just ridiculous,, don't let him work on your car,

That isn't true at all. Older Honda transmissions are more robust than most - my daughter's 1993 Accord never had a spot of transmission trouble in 275K miles. Transmissions on the 6 cylinder engines during the Great Honda Transmission Debacle of 1998-2004 rarely lasted 100K miles. Transmissions since then are uncertain. The second source has a plausible explanation for the sudden skyrocketing in failure rates for Honda transmissions.
