Default Should I buy a 1997 Honda Civic LX Sedan?

I am a teen paying for my own first car. I have about 3000 saved up and someone offered to me a 1997 Honda Civic LX Sedan with 154,000 miles on it for $2500. I would of course test drive the vehile and get it checked out by someone who knows what they're looking at. I work and go to high school in town and will probably be going to a college in two years where I won't be able to have my car on campus, so I really just need a year or two out of it before it sits in my parents driveway. I don't have the money to perform any updating too it. If it's true that everything about the car runs fine and both the exterior and interior are clean and dent-free with no paint chips, is it worth it? I know it's semi-old and with high mileage. Please help!

You should just save up until college for a newer car(and I normally don't say that as I love older Hondas) But I just hate to see cars sitting. But if you are set out on buying a car, the price is very good, and the miles are a tad bit lower then average. Just have it checked out by a friend or whoever knows anything about engines and go from there.

The mileage is decently low for a Honda. Especially if it is a 5 speed. 5 speed Honda's will run for hundreds of thousands of miles if kept up on oil changes and everything. Automatic Honda's are still good, but wont run AS long. 2,500 is a decent price for it though, even if there is a little "Honda rust", or a few dents and dings. That choice is completely up to you though! Hope I helped!
