Default Should I buy this 95 Honda Civic?

It is a 1995 Honda Civic EX automatic with 194,000 miles on it. The owner said it has a rebuilt motor that has 30,000 miles on it, and has new head gaskets. No problems. The price is less than 15000. I just need a car to go to school and work. I heard Honda Civics last forever with good maintenance. I'm worried about the miles, will this car give me problems? Fyi this will be my first car.

Sorry I meant for less than $1,500.

Ummmm. I hope you mean less than $1500. For 15000 you can get a much newer car with way less miles. Yes you will have problems but not as much since it is a Honda. New Civics cost 21K why not just buy a new one? If you really have 15K to drop on a car, put down 10 of it on a new car and finance the rest. Any car with almost 200K miles will have some sort of problems, might be minor but could be major. Save yourself the headache and buy a newer if not new car

if you mean $1500 and that's just a typo, then yes. old Civics are extremely reliable cars and have very long lifespans. if your budget is this low, then you really won't have much to choose from and this will probably be your best option as long as it's road legal. 200k might be a lot, but i've seen these cars with almost 400k on them and you can probably get a lot of life from it depending on the condition and how well you'd take care of it. but whatever you end up buying, make sure you get it checked out by a friend that knows cars or a mechanic before you buy it.

@Chris: if their budget is $1500, do you really expect them to just magically pull more money out of their @ss for a newer car?

95 Honda Civic is great for first car you can expect some issues but you will expect it will every 18 year old car but Hondas are great the miles if they are real are normal for this kind of car.
