Default I drive a honda accord and when it is cold out my power steering whines. After it warms up and I...

...start the ca? After it warms up and I start it again the whining doesn't happen. Anyone know why this may be happening?

It is a 2007 Honda Accord.

I have checked the fluid and it is full. But sometimes it bubbles out of the tank and over flows.

Have you checked the power steering fluid?

Perhaps it had told us the year of the vehicle, we could have looked up to see if it had a power steering filter and where you could find it. When they clog, they make that noise.

But the year must be a secret so we can't do that for you.

Your power steering sytem has two sides to it..a suction side the big hose going from the reservior to the pump and a pressure side which is the hose that bolts down to the top of the pump....IN MOST CASES the big hose from the reservior to the pump developes a small pinhole and when its cold it allows air to be sucked in through the pinhole and as the fluid heats up the hole begins to close enought to limit the air getting in....just as a reminder that is a common part failure and not necessairly the cause of your issue...the suction side of the P/S system goes through a lot more hose and metal pipe before it goes throught the reservior....As one of the answers already stated the reservior has a filter in it which when they do get clogged they do get noisey and can quiet some as they heat up but usually dont cause the fluid to bubble up and flow over the reservior(just noise)....if it were the pump it would just be noisey all the time.....likely u have a small hole on the suction side of system..the pump also has a plastic coupler that the reservior hose connects to -this also has an oring on it that could be the issue...i would replace both hose and o-ring..GOOD LUCK!!!
