Default Why are Asian cars so far behind in interior options?

2 cars I'm comparing- 02 Jetta fully loaded and 2012 accord fully loaded.

*Jetta has rain sensor wipers, does accord?

*Both leather heated seats, Jetta 5 option heated setting, 3 option accord.

*Jetta has 1 touch both passenger and driver windows, accord finally has that.

* Jetta has anti pinch safety windows, accord finally as well.

*8 speakers in Jetta, 7 in accord

*heated windshield washer in Jetta, accord zero

*both fog lights

*tilt down parking mirrors in Jetta, accord zero

* Jetta has 3 person memory seating accord 2?

*both heated mirrors

*both cruise control

*8 way power front seats in Jetta, accord 4.

*1 touch sun/moon roof. Accord this model now yes.

*both radio control steering

*both telescopic tilt steering Jetta- leather

*6 airbags Jetta, accord now about the same.

*automatic day/night rear mirror, assuming accord does as well.

*Accord has the camera due to being new. Seen BMW back in 06 and much more high tech. And jettas today as well.

*real spare tire in Jetta, still donut in accord

*climate control in Jetta, accord? Seems like it separates...

*lug locking nuts standard Jetta, option accord

* Jetta locks doors/windows up/down outside with key, accord 1 touch button

*tilting headrest Jetta, accord none

And much more...

Comparison between 10 years! No way you would find an 02 accord like this. I'm in no way interested in buying a Japanese car unless you can tell me another make that is above Honda. "Non luxury in its class"

Money in repairs is not an issue. Personally I think it's sad.

Another note- exterior- Jetta hood goes up on its own while accord and even new Acura still needs a stick! And gooseneck hinges in trunk

Psychotical? You really believe a Japanese car performs better than a German car? I'd love to hear an argument about that on yahoo and see how many will agree with you! That's a joke! Germans test their cars at 120mph while Asians only at 70-80. Do you really want to sit behind a loose suspension car at that high of a speed?? A semi intellegance person wouldn't! And FYI your correct about them not being in the same class.

well yes the jetta does have more luxuries sure but the accord has

Almost double the horsepower as well as half the power to weight ratio and considering the jetta is turbo'd that's pretty sad

As well as a much better crash test rating

Also has a much higher resale value

Sure in luxuries the German car will win but in performance safety and reliability (things that definitely should matter more to a semi-intelligent person) in this case the Japanese car easily takes the cake

Last note you're comparing cars that aren't in the same class

If a car maker wants to keep repairs to a minimum, it is best not to load it down with things that break. While many of those things you list are nice, none of them are truly needed on a car and as it ages they are only one more source of trouble.

The Jetta as far as reliability goes is average at best, the Accord is considered above average at its worse.

As for testing cars at 120, there is no need to go that fast. But having driven German, US and Jap cars at 140 mph or better- give me a Jap car. The ride is crisper and there is no doubt about what it will do. US cars come in second and from my experience German cars (except for the real high dollar models) a distant third. I will admit that being comfortable at high speeds is more a matter of what one is used to, so my experience you can take with a grain of salt. I for one do not like the feeling of isolation from the road in a German car.

Weren't Jettas from that time part-luxury cars? Or were more expensive than the other competitors in the class?
