Default Need some advice 93 honda del sol si d16z6?

I bought a del sol with the engine out and the head off engine is good should I change the water pump and the oil pump? Or put it all together and see if it starts people say yes some say no what to do?

I don't know what was wrong with the car. The other owner didn't have the time to put it back he was in the Navy or something

Very seldom does a oil pump fail. So my feeling is no on this if money is an issue and yes if time is. It would be a shame to have to take it all apart just to do the oil pump. If you have the service manual for the engine at least inspect it.

Now the water pump is a different matter, these fail on a regular basis. So this is a for sure thing to replace.

Now if you don't have a repair manual, try registering at autozone.com. It is free and I think that this information is there.

While the head is off change the water pump and the timing belt. Unless you're planning going with boost or making a high compression high rev all motor build. The factory pump should hold up just fine.
