Default is a non-vtec b18 engine cheap or costly on gas?

its a dohc 1.8 non vtec b18 and its in a 1988 honda crx has some suspension work done to it, its a stock body the engines like new has almost 2,000 miles on it and has new pistons, rings, gaskets etc and new brakes and tires everything is new in it except the body its stock but has been fixed up like no rust etc. and its in pretty good shape how many mpg would i get in it?

its a 5 speed and has a swapped engine in rebuilt everything

Depending on how you drive and if the car is manual(manuals are always better for MPG's as you control the shifting point) Yo will see anywhere from 35-38 MPG's, elevation will also play a factor.

Don't worry about VTEC. It only comes into play above 5000 rpm. I dont think VTEC was around in 88. According to Honda Tune magazine, the 1989.5 Integra XSi was the first production Honda that featured the technology. Shortly after, Civics and CRXs received the same B16A engine. I agree with the other guy. Sane driving skills will net you at least 35 MPG.
