Default thoughts on the 1998 honda civic?

its the coupe. not sure on the model. i believe its the ex model but could be wrong. anyways im considering switch cars because mine has been giving me problem after problem and aftwer $1200 in repairs and still having issues im done with it. anyways i found this honda. seems like it runs goosd and strong. only has 138,000 miles which for a honda is not a whole lot. anyways if you have a honda civic and had it to do over agin would you have purchased it? and what issues have you come into contact with? I really do hate that the honda civic is overrated but deep down i think they can look sick if you costomize them right. And plan on making this a very clean non ricer ish civic

It all depends on how well it was maintained for those 138k miles. I have seen Hondas' burning oil badly by then because of lack of oil changes. I would have it checked out by a good mechanic. (not jiffy lube) some small buisiness that isn't packed.

acouple of my relatives and friends have owned 2000-2001 honda civics(same engine, just refreashed styling). they never had any troubles except that people loved stealing them. my friend's civic was stolen when he left it on for 30 seconds outside. my cousins was stolen by having the window broken and the car hot wired. they all ran with over 120k fine. my uncle also had an older accord and that was great, it went on for a long time until he got sick of it.

civics are great modders, cosmetic or mechanic. ive seen alot of people who turbo them(but are not pros) so they screw up the engine a while after. ive seen some people throw on fart cans and try to race STIs and EVOs. point is, civic parts are easy and cheap to find(cuz soo many are stolen in a year, cuz civic parts are hot sellers). so if you consider buying one, i suggest putting money into a aftermarket alarm system.
