Default How do you maintain a 2000 Honda Civic LX?

Hi, this is my first car. Everythings maintained well from the previous owner; new brakes, interior is great as well as exterior. However, it was in 2 minor accidents. One rear end, and the other where she rear ended someone. Both of those were minor and did not cause it to get a salvaged title. However, it does vibrate a lot more than it should. Sounds here and there, but I took a look at the alignment of all the tires, and they were all fine. I just want to know if I should be concerned with the vibrations and also, is there a website or does anyone have any advice on how to maintain this kind of car? I'd like to keep it in as good of condition as I can. (i.e. when it should be checked out anually, smogged, break checked, how much gas should be put in at once: full tank til empty, or full til halfway then refill) Anything like that. Thanks.

Unbalanced tires or a bent rim. If you want to go to the trouble, you can jack up the rear of the car and spin the wheels and listen. If you hear any whirring or rubbing at all, then its a wheel bearing.

A good rule is to never let it get below 1/4 tank. Any lower will put a strain on the fuel pump. And a lot of places recommend not filling up beyond the gas pumps automatic shutoff...don't round it off to the next dollar.

And if you want to be "Really" conscientious, buy a Haynes manual for your make and model, at an auto parts store, and do your own oil changes and tune-ups. Dont trust those monkeys at Jiffy-Lube.

I always do mine. I've changed my oil in the rain, snow, cold...its a hassle, but I know the job got done right...and I saved money.
