Default Buying a Civic with 156k miles?

I'm 20 years old and I'm purchasing my first car with my own money. I'm wondering if purchasing a well maintained 2003 Civic with 156k miles on it would be a bad idea? I'm planning on doing a Carfax pull just to make sure, but 156k on a Civic isn't that much right?

Oh, also, the car is going for $4,000 if you can't click the ad. The price is "negotiable" according to the owner.

Just depends on how well the car was taken care of. I picked mine up at 160k miles, it's at 228k right now and runs fine.

Idk about paying $4200 for that particular Civic though. No mention of it's submodel either. I'd ask about the black front bumper as well, could be a sign of a small accident or something.

I think 156k miles is a lot and it would only be worth it if it was fairly cheap. After all, $4200 is quite an asking price, for a car with such a mileage!

On top of all that, I don't think Craigslist is a good place to buy cars, or even anything for that matter!

The 2003 Honda Civic has some transmission problems, with the major complaint being transmission failure,it's not likely this car has the problems, but it's something you will need to consider when purchasing this vehicle. The mileage might be a little high, but from what I noticed with Hondas is not unlikely.I own a 93 Civic with 182k miles, when I bought it,it had around 175k miles and it sold for around $4k.I would have a certified mechanic thoroughly check the vehicle before purchase, and I would do a test drive also.
