Default what does it mean when the light around the D is flashing on my 94 honda lights up when the engine

is on? Oh it lights up while it is in park.

Thank you very much Melanie.

What about when it is damp outside it wont start.

Thank you that helps thebax2006. sorry im new at this. Also when i start it after a couple seconds or minutes later it dies and will not start up again. the check engine light, ABS, D4 flashing and still in park. I would have to turn the key all the way off and then try again. it would try to spin but then it dies.

On most Hondas the D4 light flashing means that the transmissions computer is picking up a problem,if the check engine light is on take it to a transmission shop,or a certified mechanic so they can pull the engine code, sometimes it might just be the vehicle's speed sensor.

It's not an engine code, it's a transmission code. I'd go to the dealer and have them use the factory scan tool to pull the codes. It may well be an input or output speed sensor or a solenoid. But this time of year I've seen many wire harnesses chewed up by mice looking for a warm spot. If you see any seed shells on top of the motor check the transmission wiring for chew marks. Your car is in the fail safe mode with the flashing D light. This means you only have 3rd and reverse gears. Your car will be slow from a stop because of starting and driving in 3rd gear. Transmission shops might try and sell you a rebuilt transmission instead of just replacing a sensor so beware. The transmission oil pump is OK so there should not be any major damage. It's electrical in nature.
