Default is it worth buying a Honda with possible trans problems?

ok so i been looking at cars to buy.. on Craglist i saw this Honda accord 2001 coupe with 176k miles for 3000 bucks.. seemed legit so i foned the guy and we met up.. the car interior and exterior is in MINT shape almost like new... the only thing i noticed was that when i was in first gear passing onto second gear the transmission sort of slips.. i'll try to describe it.. i accelerated and it took an extra second to switch to second gear and it kicks just a tad bit.. iv had transmission problems with other cars iv owned and it isnt that obvious but enough that i could feel it.. my question to any HONDA experts out there is.. should i go and take a risk? or will it just fail on me after a month..

If you think it is going to fail in the near future, your are right. If you are planning to have the transmission repair, it would be a good deal. Although $3K is a pretty expensive for a car that have bad transmission.

You could ask to have the trans looked at by a reputable shop. It could be something minor like poor trans fluid, something simple but a bit more $$ like a sensor, or a big mess that you should run from.

The final decision should go by your need. While situations like this have worked out fine for me, I know that if it feels wrong to me, I wouldn't do it.

No way you can get a complete car for that price with no problems, why buy someone else's headache if it was an easy fix the owner would have already done it or had a friend Hondas sell all day for four to five grand

Well considering a new transmission job is $1000. If you can afford it, go for it.
