Default Why wont my 1998 honda civic start when the car is warm but starts after it cools off?

Starts and runs fine when the car is cool and runs fine until i turn off the ignition, then it wont start again unless i let it sit long enough to cool down.

it might be a failsafe , its a sensor that doesnt allow your car to start when its to hot as it would cause damage to your car?

ignore the other answer I don't why they bother, it's a faulty temperature sender putting the wrong amount of gas into the engine for the temperature, the car may be running on emergency settings in the ECU , if you unplug the sensor and it starts then it is 100% that

The top suspect is the fuel pump relay, known as the "main relay." They often get temperature sensitive when they fail. See the first source for details and a test to perform when it is not starting. The ignition switch itself is the other suspect (there are really no other common Honda failures that cause your symptoms) - see the second source. There is a recall on the ignition switch in your 1998 Civic for this sort of misbehavior - third source, third recall from the bottom.
