Default Will 84w tires work for a prelude vtec 1994?

I know stock it comes with 87 but one of my tires poped and i have a set of 84 i want to use but i dont know how safe it would be.

The tires are 17" 205 40r 84w. The car is a prelude vtec h22a1 1994 stock

I need the full size of each tire to know for sure. There should not be a difference in load index if all the tires are the same size.

I can field this one. You have a problem.

The OEM tire size for this year and model is 205/55R15 87V inflated to 32 psi front and rear, equivilant to a load carrying capacity per tire of 1,080 pounds.

You 205/40R17 XL 84W tires at 32 psi have a load capacity of only 880 pounds. You have to bump them to their maximum load pressure of 42 psi in order to get the correct load capacity for this car. These tires belong on a Civic. You should be using 215/40R17 XL 87W sized tires which not only come much closer to the correct overall diameter but allow you to run a more reasonable 37 psi.

1. A tire in size 205/40R17 comes in two load ranges: a Standard Load with a Load Index number of 80 or an Extra Load range with a Load Index number of 84. A tire of these dimensions will NEVER have a Load Index number of 87 which means you are either wrong about the the Index number of that tire or it is not a size 205/40R17.

2. None of the tires on that car should be a 205/40R17 XL 84W. Right size for a Civic of that year, wrong size for a Prelude.
