Default '99 Honda Accord coupe only give me about 240 miles / tank of gas, is it bad?

I am driving local about 8 miles / day, and a full tank of gas gives me about 240 miles. Is it time for a new car? It is 13 years old. Runs well otherwise.

Instead of reading the odometer. Calculate your average fuel economy at the pump.

Say for example, your trip computer says 200 miles, and you filled up 10 gallons at the pump. Divide the number of miles to the number of gallons your filled up. So 200 miles / 10 gal = 20 mpg.

Now fuel economy can differ whether your have a V6 or a 4cyl.

With the 4cyl, anywhere from 20-25mpg city is average. 28+ hwy is average.

With the V6 anywhere from 18-23mpg is average. 26+hwy is average.

Don't just get a new car because you're not getting as many miles from a full tank.

Have you been keeping up with maintenance is the real question.

Changing your motor oil regularly, running on a clean air filter, climate control (Air Conditioning), driving habits (Flooring it during take offs), city driving vs highway, stop and go traffic, and tire pressure all contributes to fuel consumption.

My Subaru WRX gets 145 miles per tank, my Prius gets 400 miles per tank.

I suggest you to start looking for a newer car. In Today's economy it's hard to find a car for a good price. Check craigslist once every 1-2 days for a good priced car. If you have about $17k to spend on a car(available financing) I suggest looking at the 2008-2010 Toyota Prius. I found a couple of base model 2010s going for about $15k. 2008-2009 generation go for cheaper(about $13500 highest, or it's a ripoff), and you could find a higher trim level. They get 45+mpg city. So your looking about filling the tank up every 2-3 weeks.
