I'm probably the odd man out.

The Honda Fits are really fun to drive, especially with the 5spd manual trans.

The Fit has a awesome second row fold down where it folds completely flat for large cargo.

The Civic on the other hand needs more power since it's carrying extra weight. It also has the electric power steering so handling would feel a little numb.

The Civic is a great car, however there are a lot more competitors in the compact sedan segment now. Elantra, Focus, and dare I say it the Cruze.

The Fit is one of the best subcompacts money can buy, way ahead of the competition.

Let me put it this way.

A Civic is a good passenger car, whereas the Fit is a better driver's car.

I know it may seem lame seeing yourself in a Fit, but I've seen guys doubt the Fit and when they drive it, they are in awe.

The Fit packs a punch for it's size, and it way ahead of it's competitors. Versa, Yaris, Rio, Accent, & Sonic could hardly keep up.

Avoid the new Civics like the plague! Every car magazine review of that model calls Honda to the carpet for producing a car that was pathetic by comparison to the prior generation Civic (which I owned before I traded it for a Fit Sport).

If you really want a Civic sedan, get one built before 2009. The 2005 to 2008 Civic was a fantastic car! But the model revision that went on sale in 2010 was garbage. While reliable, it was a poor handling vehicle with little to speak for it.

Get a Fit if you want a really versatile and interesting Honda. The added headroom and hatchback are icing on the cake of a good four door compact with great handling and above average gas mileage.
