Default Can I use a 175/65R15 tire on my 2002 Honda Insight even though it uses 165/65R14?

The 175 series is for the 2010 Insight; so will there be enough clearance in the wheel wells for an extra inch of the 15 inch as opposed to the 14 inch tires OR not a good idea?

Dan H,

Opps, I guess that's why mechanics take advantage of stupid females...

Thanks for a quick answer!!!

Dear nobody important,

That's what I probably had in mind, but your correct, WAY too expensive to buy new rims!

No. You cannot use a 15 inch tire on a 14 inch rim. It will not fit and you cannot make it fit.

175 is the width of the tire

65 is the aspect ratio of the tire (essentially the height of the sidewall

15 is the rim size the tire will fit on.

They would most likely fit, ride better, and look good, but your mileage would be comprimised and that is extra wear and tear on things like hubs and wheel bearings, there is always a trade off... Remeber it is the tire and rim that need to be changed so its not cheap, check with a local tire shop to make sure the wheel back spacing will work with your cars clearances
