Remap is the way forward,as long as they are responsible and do not over work the engine.Don't bother with K&N filters etc on a standard engine. Will just make it sound better without really improving performance.

if you want more power out of that it would be easier and cheaper to buy another car, the cost to engine modifications to that engine would be thousands of pounds, how about a type r or something in that range

Not much, and it would be very expensive.

Basically Honda are one of the world's finest engine makers and if you go b*gg*ring about with it, you'll cause problems.

A few grand on a remap, hotter cams and sports exhaust and air intake might get you another 20-30bhp at the expense of mpg and miles per engine.

If you wanted a fast car why did you buy a big automatic family saloon in the first place?

So you don't want to use remapping, or any forced induction? You're seriously limited then - perhaps a 'performance' air filter or exhaust?...
