I know the car shown is a Acura Rsx,, But in case you did not know Honda and Acura, they are pretty much the same so here is a full page on how to do it step by step.

I believe it is covered by a lifetime warranty. You could call your local Honda service department and tell them what your mechanic traced the problem to and ask if it's covered.
