Default How do I fix the speedometer sticking in my 99 Honda Accord ex?

The speedometer in my Honda accord sticks here and there. I'll be driving and itll be at zero...then eventually move and jump to whatever speed I'm going. As I go to slow down it may or may not show that I'm slowing down. Its funny to be sitting at a light and the speedo saying 80mph. Is this an easy fix ? What would cause it to stick..then jump to the correct speed..and then stick and so on ? Any information as to eliminating the issue would be great as well. Thanks in advance for your time !

its as though the speedometer gets stuck. I'll go to say 70 and the speedometer will work somewhat showing my speed increase, then as i slow down the speedometer wont show the drop in speed

That era Honda (may still be true of newer ones... not sure about that) had quite a bit of trouble with intermittent speedometers. The devil of it is the causes were fairly evenly split between the Vehicle Speed Sensor and the speedometer and about the only sure way of telling which one it was seems to be to replace one and see if it fixes the problem. With the speedometer reading high while the car is standing still, and no check engine light, the suspicion shifts heavily on the speedometer (the VSS should be putting out nothing while stopped) but replacing the instrument cluster is not something to take lightly unless you have a lot of money hanging around.
