Default What is the life expectancy of a 2003 Honda Accord Ex with a V6?

I am looking at buying a car that already has 164xxx miles on it. I need the biggest bang for my money as I'm definitely not rich and so if anyone could tell me how many miles the V6 in this car can live ( if it was maintained properly) I'd appreciate it. In fact any info would be appreciated!

IF it is maintain properly, you can expect to drive it for years and years, and years. I expect you will get tired of it before (way before) it wears out

I owned a 99 accord for 10 years. I definitely didn't take good care of it and it still ran great, 150,000+ miles. Honda's are built to last, if the car you're looking at has been well taken care of, you'll get great value out of it.

The automatic transmission (if it is not a manual transmission) is by far the biggest concern. 2003 was the worst year for Honda automatic transmissions on V6 engines, bad enough to earn it second place in carcomplaints.com's "worst vehicles" lineup. When the cars were new some people went through 3 transmissions in 100K miles. There was a retrofit oiling kit that was intended to fix the main problem but it was only put in under an extended warranty program (no actual recall) when a transmission was already showing signs of failure.

One credible site has suggested the underlying problem is that Honda, which has for decades used a system similar to a manual transmission with automated shifting, tried to make the engagement smoother by slowing the clutch engagement and by doing that was burning up the internal clutches.
