Default Should i get a 2009 accord?

should i get a 2009 accord coupe its $20000 plus tax, around $22000 with 30,000miles on it. so this car gets 30mpg but the 2011 gets 33mpg. so my point is 30mpg is around the bmw and lexus cars which gets 29mpg.. and a bmw or lexus would cost around the same given it be 1-2 years older and with 10,000miles more but it would still come with a warrenty. so i would prefer a bmw or lexus but would settle for an accord if it saves more money. but seeing the gas mpg i see no differences in price wise. i no bmw n lexus use premium gas but the news says you can use normal it really doesnt matter. so my question is, is buying an accord really saving me money rather than those luxsery type cars, cause i assume a honda is gas saving but the mpg is nearly the same. please give me your thoughts. also if you think im making to big a deal out of the gas mileage then should i just spend 4-5k more and get the 2011 accord which gets 33mpg?

So you're asking which is the most economical? The Accord, but not because of the mpg, but rather because of the reliability and resell value. Gas mileage varies anyway and when a car says it can get 30 mpg that is usually the best it can do under perfect circumstances. Fuel efficiency usually declines as a car ages. Also, if the bmw or lexus state that they need premium gas (91 octane or higher) then you need to use premium, it has nothing to do with luxury but rather engine performance. Usually the grade of gas depends upon the model a car (accord) is rather than the make (Honda). Higher performing engine require higher octane gas otherwise they may knock and ping.

If your so worried about spending money on gas you should get a compact car (ie. civic) or a hybrid or a motorcycle. Otherwise just get what you want. Do the math if you get 3 miles more a gallon what is that going to save 1 to 1.5 gallons a fill up which probably adds up to about $200-$300 a year. Is it worth getting a car you don't want just to save $200 a year in gas? because in reality you should be more concerned with insurance and maintenance which will add up to a lot more over time.
