Default Where to get a thermostat for a 1996 Honda Accord?

I purchased a thermostat for my 4cyl. 1996 Accord from Carquest and was later told that it is not a proper fit and will not work.

Short of getting one from the dealer is there any other brand that will work? Something as simple as a thermostat should be readily available anywhere...

"Don't go to Carquest anymore"! Funny isn't it that Carquest is the only place I have found that carries Honda brand ATF other than a Honda dealer!

I wasn't looking to order anything. I can order bonafide Honda parts online at a reasonable price if I wanted to do that.

I think I was getting the run around from the guy who flushed my radiator. The Stant thermostat from Carquest did not look any different from one from the dealer. I thin it was all hogwash.

Anyway, I got one from the dealer just to be safe and will replace it myself tomorrow.

Thank you all for your efforts.

I recommend you purchase the "Chilton's" book for your car...

then you will always know what parts your car uses.

An Auto parts store: Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Discount Auto, etc...

My husband said "don't go to Carquest anymore."

Also, he said; "Go to an "Ac Delco Auto Parts Store",

and they will order a real part, not an imitation one."

I would try Rockauto.com, they carry a large selection of parts. I have a 98 Buick Lesabre and have bought hundreds of dollars of parts for it and only once did I get the wrong part. You may pay a bit more in shipping but it would be right. Do you live near an Advance auto, or Autozone?

No acdelco for Honda! Local Honda dealer for OEM parts.
