Default No Egr valve or passage way in 98 civic si (ex)?

I have a 98 civic si (ex) and its been jerking at certain rpm, ive done some research and asked other forums about this problem and all of them tell me that either my egr valve is clogged or the passage way is clogged. i would love to clean it but i don't have it. i seen a video on youtube showing how to remove the passage way and how to clean it but when i go to my car and check the passage way, there is none to be found. Why doesn't the ex civic have one? and can i get someones help on with the damn jerking and buckling of the car at certain rpm ( 1500-1800) thanks

This question appeared here once before, or a very similar one. I'm not positive of the year but the Honda parts drawings showed EGR only on the EX... although the asker had an EX with definitely no EGR. I wonder if it is a Canada version thing.
