Default Why does the Honda logo sometimes have a wing on it?

I know quite a lot about cars (or so I think) but I have no idea why sometimes the Honda logo is just an 'H' in a square, but sometimes it's the word "Honda" with a wing over it.

The wing logo is for Honda motorcycles. Honda started building motorcycles way before they got into automobiles, and that logo has been around a long, long time. Typically the "H" in a squared-off logo is used for Honda automobiles.
