Default Car getting taken because of engine swap with no papers?

I'm looking to buy a car and found a Honda Civic with a b18 engine swap and lots of mods for $3000. The problem is the guy doesn't have the papers for the engine swap or anything else hes done to the car and my parents said that if i buy the car and the police checks the car they could take it away because i don't have proof of the mods. Is it true? i live in PA by the way.

uh..no. you can mod your car all you want as long as its street legal (if you drive it on the street), and toss every receipt you ever had. that's like saying the cops can take your house cause you lost the receipt to the new paint you bought.

mods are mods. just keep it legal and cops don't give damn.

Potentially, any car that has had an engine replacement without documentation for the source of the new engine could be confiscated as having a stolen engine. But that would only happen if the engine VIN (which will no longer match the vehicle VIN in any case) comes up on a stolen list. I wonder if the seller knows something you don't know about the engine's history.

YES!!!!! if and only if they run the numbers on the motor and the numbers come up that the car this motor belong to was stolen, yes the police will confiscate your car and you may or may not get it back and if you do it will def be with out the motor, dont believe anybody on here telling you different, i know from experience! ;-)
