If thermostat is bad would it hiss on my 95 honda accord?

You're going to need to be more specific about the hiss. That could be a lot of things. A thermostat though is a pretty simple mechanism. If it doesn't open, the engine will overheat. If it won't close, the engine will never heat up properly (i.e. run cold). If it does neither the thermostat is probably good.
