Default Navigation System won't load 2005 Accord

recently my battery died and when i replaced it, the navigation system dispay was not loading properly. The first screen keeps reloading over and over. On a rare occasion, the system does load completely, at which time i can use all the functions. (requires the code each time). But when the car is restarted, reverts back to repeated reloading. i tried disconnecting the battery for a power cycle, did not work. I tried cleaning the DVD but don't know what else to try.
