Default Why should I get a Civic?

I'm looking for a new car with my parents (well, its not really new), and they say that they want me to have an SUV because they are safer. I have shown them that the 04-05 civics have better IAHS and NHTSA safety ratings than many of the SUV's they want to get me. But they still seem stuck on the fact that they are safer simply because they are higher off of the ground. I would prefer having a car over having an SUV. Can anyone give me any statistics that I can use to convince my parents that the civic is a good car to buy (not only from a safety standpoint)?

For one thing, the Civic will have much better gas mileage. One more point on the safety issue is that SUVs have a higher roll over rate in accidents. Having worked in the auto parts business for 10 years, I can assure you and your parents that parts are much more readily available, and less expensive for the Civic. I hope this helps a little. Good luck on your car shopping!

Um its the top selling compact for 25 years I believe. Look it up. The whole thing about suvs being safer is just a mind set. Until recently suvs haven't been held to the same safety standards as cars. It's also where you live, I live in an area where there a lot of dear and I wouldn't want to clip a dear in a civic. And civics get like 36 highway mpg which is awesome. Also, Honda are some of the most reliable cars on the road. Also Honda has very aggressive financing options and pricing.

You should get what you know you're going to get the best experience from. I myself drive a Prelude and I'm about to get a Civic so i'm very partial to Honda. Besides the gas milage, it's just so much more fun to drive. If you get an SUV or truck, you'll regret it when you go to the pump twice a week or more assuming that gas is an issue. It's your experience, your gas money, and your future drivability.
