Default A and B Shift Solenoid

I have a 1998 Honda Civic Si...When I drive the car, the engine revs, but the car doesn't go past 50 KM/Hr....

I took it to the Honda dealer, and they said I needed an A and B shift solenoid, and a new transmission...They gave me a quote of ~CDN$4000...

My question is, Can I change the A and B shift solenoid on my own, or is it a job for a professional mechanic?
