Default K20A2 engine on a K20A3 transmission?

I've read a couple forums that the A3 transmission has better torque and that some have swapped an A2 complete engine on an A3 trans. Maybe I'm reading the forums wrong but is this possible? If so, what would happen to the sixth gear on the A2, and what would be the pros and cons of it?
