Default Can I drive my 04 Civ Hybrid without the ac compressor belt temporarily?

My 04 civic hybrid broke down due to a bad ac compressor (it might just be the compressor clutch).
When I looked down into the belt and pulley setup where I heard noise, it looked like the pulley attached to the compressor was barely moving with the belt.
In order to prevent further breakage, I took off the belt that I believe controls the AC, Power Steering, and a few other functions.

Can I drive the car just to get it to a shop or will this ruin it?

This may be a bit late, but I just had the same problem on my 04 HCH, only the serpentine belt broke when the bearing failed. Unfortunately, one of the accessories run by the S-belt is the water pump, so the range you can drive is very limited before the engine will be damaged. If you have more than a mile or so to drive, you should replace the regular belt with a shorter one that will skip the A/C compressor pulley. NAPA or Autozone will have one that will fit. Sorry I can't give you a part number. I limped to a local place by running the engine only to accelerate, and then coasted with the engine off as far as possible. The jury is still out on whether the engine has a problem.

Update -- the part number for a NAPA belt that will fit, bypassing the A/C compressor, is 040395 (Micro-V AT belt).
