Default i put lowering springs on my car about 6 months ago and wanna go lower...?

i intend on buying a full coilover set to lower my car 4 inches. but i have heard that if i heat up my lowering springs with a little propane torch it will lower it by weight of the car, is this true? if so could i do it and keep them on for a couple weeks before i put my coilovers on without worring about any major problem?

For one thing, if you heat up your new springs, they are ruined. If you just take them out when you get your new ones, you can re-sell them... unless you are swimming in $$$ that's what I'd do. 2nd... I think its going to take longer than its worth to do with a propane torch... use acetylene. 3rd... its real easy to go too far and get the car on the ground or uneven. Set something up on each side of the car, (like a stout block of wood)under a hard point on each side and let the spring cool before taking the blocks out... (with a jack) Good luck!

PS.. lots of springs are progressive... meaning the windings are tapered-- narrower at the top for a smooth ride on the street... avoid heating that part of the spring.. unless you want a really harsh ride.

You must really want to bottom out with a 4 inch drop.

If you heat your springs they warp and its extremely dangerous...dont go cheap sell your current ones and buy legit lowering springs.
