Default Can you make an Acura Integra ls fast?

The ls I am looking at has about 140hp and is a 4 speed automatic. I currently have one right now and they are pretty lightweight but lack power. I am struggling to find an integra gsr so I might settle with the ls. What options do I have to make this car faster? Thanks

ls motors are the best for boost, although that tranny is going to be the weakest link

look for an ls with a 5 speed manual, theyre a lot more fun to drive

The engine in the Integra LS has a larger displacement and a lower compression ratio than the engine in the GSR. You can take advantage of this by installing a supercharger. Turbochargers wouldn't be a good idea, the exhaust is already very well tuned so putting a turbocharger will cost you power on the exhaust and turbos always give too much boost too late. You should consider stiffening up the suspension, perhaps a compression strut in the trunk.

Yeah you can. If you get the auto LS do a tranny swap, something like a Type-R LSD or JDM GSR LSD tranny. If you're going to keep the b18b1 then just boost it. Go on youtube, plenty of fast boosted LS Integras. Or you can go the all motor route. I would say swap a GSR or Type-R motor if you're going to do that. I have a built GSR all motor and it's a lot of fun. It put down 228whp and 147tq and I ran a 12.75 on street tires and a bad clutch. I beat a lot of people on the street.

I may have to disagree with using a supercharger my reason would be because superchargers suck 30% of the engines power for them to actually work given the fact your engine is not the best. You would make a small gain in power.

Using a turbo charger would be the better option due to the fact they draw their power from the exhaust gases from your car, again they can be laggy however this problem is easily remedied with the appropriate sized turbo and type of turbo(Ball bearing, Oil, Twin Scroll etc). Theres millions of different types of turbos you can choose from. Some kicking in boost from as low as 1000rpm.

In the mean time stick with the basics to increase power. Fully Service your car. Not just an oil filter and oil change. Do the whole shee bang, Fluids, Spark Plugs etc. Then start simple. A good after market air intake system, Add aftermarket headers and match that with an upgraded exhaust(not too big though).

Its only my opinion anyway. What i would do is just freshen up the engine and strap in 80hp shot of NOS. Easy

Have fun
