Hi Kyle! Yank the cylinder head off and take it to a shop that's equipped to install a full size

spark plug repair "insert". These are usually made of steel or aluminum alloy, have a larger outside diameter than a Helicoil and are designed as a permanent fix. The best ones are locked into place with a special pin to keep it from ever coming back out.

If that's not possible, one can usually peel out the damaged helicoil if your careful, re-tap the hole with the proper helicoil tap and install a new one if the hole isn't too mangled.

Remember that a properly installed Helicoil doesn't hang out beyond the top or bottom of the hole it's

screwed into. Note the sharp points at the ends of the coil..this is how it locks itself into place.

Heh! Whatever you do..Don't try to run a spark plug tap through the old coil because it's made of pretty much the same stuff as the tap is and the result will be a snapped off tap, a mangled up cylinder head and much shedding of tears.
