Default Need help honda civc 2000 ex with a 96 civic vtec engine not working?

i bout a civic 2000 ex with no motor. had a 1996 civic ex motor and trans installed automatic. the car has the 2000 civic wire hareness. i keep getting a flashing d4 and car will not drive right. did i do something wrong with the swap please help honda experts !!!

You'd have to pull the transmission code and let us know what it is.

But my first thoughts went to incorrect ECU. There are manual and automatic variations of the ECU's so if the 2000 EX was a manual and you kept it's ECU but dropped in the 96 EX engine w/ auto transmission that will cause problems.
