Default Cannot unscrew oil drain plug in Honda Accord, what tool to use?

Hi, I have the right key for the drain plug, BUT it is so tight that I just cannot unscrew it to change the oil. It looks like they used some special electric gun to screw it back in when I went to the service for oil change. Could you please help me with some suggestions? I want to save a few bucks which would allow me to fill one more tank of gas onto this sedan. Thank you.

Jerk it loose with a wrench, or use socket and handle

You can get a "breaker bar" at stores that sell tools - it is a socket handle with a swivel head (not a ratchet) and an 18 inch handle. That should break it loose.

The drain plug torque is only 33 ft-lbs, and overtightening is very bad news. Honda oil plug threads are notorious for stripping and this one incident by an incompetent grease monkey has certainly hastened that event. Replacement of the pan is about $200-$250, but most people resort to an oversize drain plug. They are available at most auto parts stores, with single and double oversize plugs available at NAPA.
