Default O2 Sensor CRV 2004

I have a check engine light that has been going off and on. I check the code and it appears to point to the O2 sensor. From what I understand there are 2 of them, one before and one after the converter. The vehicle has approx 97k miles on it. The other day I was on the highway and completely lost power. The vehicle just wouldn't go. I was lucky enough to make it to the breakdown lane. I then proceeded and was able to gain normal speed and then it happened again. I got off the highway and was able to make it home on the back roads going under 40mph. I had no engine issue the entire rest of the way. The issue cause no other symptoms other than just loss of power. Electrical was good, etc...

I am wondering if this engine issue is the result of a bad O2 sensor and how can you tell if it is the one before or after the converter.

Has anyone had a similar experience ? How do you know which sensor ? Also, does it really matter what kind of replacement O2 you put in there. I compared 'generics' to Bosch and Bosch is very expensive. Is it a situation of you get what you pay for ?
