Default Honda Tiptronic for racing?

I'm going to have a 98 prelude handed down to me after highschool and i think it's awesome and quick since my brother use to race it, people always say automatics are weak blah blah. What do you all think the tiptronic? It's going to be a commuter. Since a can't be driving my 5.2 Dakota.

A tiptronic also know as a manumatic is pretty much an automatic transmission with a fancy mode where you can manually choose what gear your in when romping on it while still be able to switch to normal driving when in the city and your too lazy to shift. Sounds like the best thing ever right?

wrong.

A manual transmission uses a clutch to which is a direct link between the transmission and the engine which is manual engaged and disengaged by the driver when shifting gears. An automatic uses the means of a torque converter, same as the tiptronic. Torque converters are a fluid coupling and transfers power through fluid motion. Very inefficient and can be accounted for a 10-13% power loss compared to a manual. In the end a Tiptronic trans is essentially just an automatic.

If you want to talk transmissions that are good for racing try audi's dual clutch automatics. Now THAT is some serious technology.

But about your prelude. Yeah there quick little bastards. Not fast but quick. There kinda sporty and are fun to drive. Plus good gas mileage. Let the haters keep hating on that.
