Default 1998 honda civic dx cat problems?

i have a 1998 honda civic dx hatchback i bought it and the exhaust has no cat on it so i was wondering if i can put a resonator in in place of the cat and have the car still pass emitions in the state of ny i have no clue what the difference is so i need some Professional help.

In most cases the emissions test won't pass unless you've the full proper exhaust system on the vehicle but that doesn't mean you could put a universal or used cat on it just be sure and call the public info DMV before you do the work.Using good used parts from a U pull auto wreckers is okay as long as their from a vehicle with the same engine etc it's just the universal some places don't allow them.

check Ebay for an exhaust system with a high flow cat, believe you still pass emissions but don't restrict the airflow as a stock system
