Default Turbo civic burns oil.?

I have a 02 civic si with the k20a3, running a greddy turbocharger at 7psi. The engine runs awesome and I hear that 7psi is healthy for the k20. Only problem is it burns oil once in a while, this mainly occurs after I am off the gas and decelerating in gear. When I touch the gas again it blows a little smoke out the exhaust. It's very consistent to the point where I can make it do it when I "want to". The motor only has 50k on it and the turbo is 2k old, and it was professionally tuned. My mechanic is saying that it will be solved by removing the breather filter. Any suggestions please?

That's what happens when you turbo and beat on a car that's not made to be beat on.

My first thoughts are that your turbo seals are leaking. I have experienced this shutdown smoke in a previous car. Take the inducer pipe off and feel the turbo shaft for end play. Movement in/out up/down or wet oil on the turbine blades means a new unit or re-built turbo. I had one let go on the drive home from a specialist once, it was within 30 miles of fitting.

Also what pressure are you feeding the oil for the turbo at? They don't like high pressure, 10 psi is usually the norm for wet float journal bearing turbo's. If you feed it the 70+ psi that our Honda's run at it's going to fail.
