Default Honda Shudders under acceleration?

My Car is a 1993 Honda Civic Hatch back with a d15b7 motor in it.

When the car starts, it starts normally and runs smoothly, when the car accelerates it a runs smoothly to a point and then it starts to shudder and loose power, at about 30% throttle, depending on the engine speed. If the engine speed is higher then the point at with it starts to shudder is higher. It seems to be mostly related to the amount of power it has to produce and less related to the engine speed. Much worse when climbing a hill for example. If the car is not pushed too hard, then the engine will rev to its limit without showing any signs of problems, as long as the gas pedal is not pushed too hard.

When the engine starts to fail the shuddering is very consistantly, that is it shudders with a very consistant vibration, like one of the cylinders is missing, and when i let off the throttle, it gets a little jerk of power and runs smoothly again, if the car is going at the same speed, i can put my foot back into it and it fails at exactly the same point along the throttle stroke that it did the last time, I can repeat this over and over again.

I am at a loss for what is wrong with this thing. I have done all the standard checks on it.

It has a manual transmission

These are the things I have done to it.

It has a new fuel Pump

It has new Spark Plugs

The spark plug wires have been checked and replaced.

The ignition rotor and housing and cap has been replaced out of another working car.

The throttle position sensor has been checked and tests ok

THe intake air temp sensor has been tested and returns ok

The Fuel pump has been replaced from a working car

The Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor has been checked and tested ok, then for the hell of it, I changed it.

The CKP/TDC and CYP sensors where checked

What else....the Oxygen sensor was check and tested ok on the replaced Distributor

It doesn't seem to have an EGR Valve, perhaps because it is a Standard?

I even replaced the ECU with a working replacement.

I am at wits end. What could be wrong with this car!

Thanks for the reply, I did forget to mention that I replaced the Fuel Filter with a new one.

You hit on some of my ideas. It seems like an ignition problem and I was going to suggest plugs and wires (especially wires). Matter of fact I had a GM with a similar problem and I had replaced the plug wires the year before and in the course of one year the cheap wires I put on had somehow gone to pot.

My next idea is a bad coil (or is this a coil-on-plug design?). An intermittent bad coil will pass a bench test but fail occasionally under load. You gotta swap it out.

What about the crankshaft speed sensor? Had this problem with a Chrysler once.

I see you did the fuel pump but what about the fuel filter?

Plugs propenly gapped? Double check gap.
