Nitrous is the cheapest and easiest way to add horsepower. A nice 75 hp wet kit will run you around $500 bucks and won't destroy your engine.

Here was my upgrade list when I first was on my budget. Since then i have done serious upgrades but i usually do these cheap upgrades to get the most out of your engine....for now....

Cold Intake system

3inch exhaust pipe

High flow Muffler

Test Pipe

K&N or Mobil1 Oil Filter

10w30 Castrol Synthetic (10w40 if you live some where hot like florida or texas)

1 bottle Lucas Oil Stabilizer

Bosch Platinum 2's or 4's spark plugs

85/15 mix on your antifreeze. I usually use Dexcool. (this will raise your boiling point and help keep your engine from over heating)

.......after that its all about the serious upgrades. Nology wires, stage 1 or 2 cams, Hondata ECU upgrades, fuel rail and regulator upgrades, piston and rod upgrades, valve, valve stems, springs, retainer upgrades, pulley upgrades, and so one. Usually when i complete the list from up above on the cars i work on you feel the difference. Its not a fast and furious difference but that's the cheapest your gunna get for basic upgrades with out breaking the bank. Your biggest gain in power you will feel when you put the test pipe on your car. Hope this helped.

1. Lighten the car. (Remove unnecessary/pointless parts, buy lighter aftermarket replacement parts)

2. Lighter flywheel and better clutch.

3. Lighter rims.

4. Full tune-up.

5. Ignition system

6. Better intake manifold

7. Larger throttle body

8. Lighter radiator with better flow over stock (Do NOT change to a lower temperature thermostat)

9. Ported cylinder head

10. Adjustable cam gear (to Retard or Advance cam timing during a tune)

11. Tuned ECU

12. Stage II camshaft (I personally find the stage I cam's useless since they don't provide as significant of a gain and are often very close to the price of a stage II.

13. Bigger valves (Must determine if this will actually help your build)

14. Stronger valve springs and retainers (Bring the rev-limiter up after this is done)

15. Different rods and pistons

16. Thinner head gasket

17. Cylinder boring

18. Lighter crankshaft

19. Better oil (Amsoil, Mobil 1, Royal Purple)

20. Turbocharger

21. Nitrous

22. Bigger injectors (only done after extensive modifications - NOT bolt-on mods.)

23. Individual throttle bodies (not street legal in majority of places)

24. Engine swap

Research and plan your build.
