Default Okay, right now, I have a car, but I want a honda civic. Well my dad has one, and i really like

his.? Well, he has told me that whatever car i get, i need to earn. Well, I respect him completely and completely agree with him. But it is hard to buy a car when i am in highschool. The reason I want this car is because it gets nearly 40 mpg. and mine gets roughly 26, and gas prices are skyrocketing. I earn about 100 bucks every weekend and later this week im applying for a job at dollar general. But by the time i come up with enough money for a car, it will probably be a year from now, because all the money i make is going to be going into gas. So a little help on how i should tell, or ask my dad about this car. It probably has about 70k miles on it... but that is nothing to worry about, since hondas are very reliable cars. I think this car would be a great fit for me! Thanks!

You need to adjust the nut behind the wheel. Im getting 40MPG in my RSX-S by hypermiling. Guess what dude..youre in high school. You should be glad you even have a car. Buying a new car for better mileage doesnt work out mathematically. I drive 20,000 miles a year and spend $1800 a year on gas. That using PREMIUM. So there is no way in hell getting 50% more MPG could justify a 5, 10, or 15 thousand dollar car. Hell your insurance is probably more than my gas. By that reasoning, you should buy a car with cheap insurance like a buick, or a crossover SUV like crv because those cars have super cheap insurance. Cars like the Scion tc, chevy cobalt, civic si have extremely high insurance because stupid young people drive them, wreck them, and steal them.
