Default I have an 88 Honda crx and I want to give it better acceleration and that's it.I don't need

to go fast? My crx takes forever to gain rpm even when it's floored.I just want better acceleration.does anyone know how to fix this?oh yeah it's a 4speed stick shift too if that helps.

This car is a front-wheel drive, which limits the possibilities a little. Rear-wheel, just swap for a higher gear ratio and you're done. With yours, you can either have the transmission modified (expensive) or add power to the engine. Cold air intakes, turbos, nitrous, all add power but the cheapest way is going to be add a cold air intake and exhaust, including the headers.

First, you CRX only came in 5speeds. So with the being said, someone installed a 88-91 Civic STD transmission in your CRX. I would get rid of that transmission and install an Si transmission. Also, is your CRX a HF, DX, or Si? I asked because if you have a HF, I would get rid of that 8 valve 1.5L motor and install atleast a d16a6 in you car. If that's out of your budget, I would install a cold air intake, an aftermarket exhaust manifold, a larger diameter catback, and a nice aftermarket camshaft. That should wake up your motor slightly.
